"We share common approaches to key international and regional issues. We are grateful for your support of Russian initiatives at the UN. Of course, Russia pays particular attention to the comprehensive development of relations with African countries as a whole," the Russian president said.
He also noted that ties between the two countries were 'developing successfully'.
"Political dialogue is advancing, as are interparliamentary ties, while the heads of our foreign ministries are in regular contact. Trade is not growing at a galloping pace, but it is growing nonetheless and remains at a good level. We traditionally maintain relations in the humanitarian sphere, including education and training," the president continued.
Putin's visit to New Delhi runs from September 11-13. On Friday, he and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited the INNOPROM exhibition together.
