Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi met Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian on the sidelines of the 18th BRICS Summit in New Delhi on Friday.
Footage shows the two leaders sitting down for talks alongside Indian and Iranian officials, while Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi is also seen shaking hands with Modi.
The meeting came as BRICS leaders talked up the bloc's growing financial muscle. Earlier, Modi said the group's economy is "growing at nearly twice the global rate."
Pezeshkian said BRICS would become "a real force in the global economy" when cooperation between its members is turned into contracts, factories, ports and tangible benefits for their people.
He also called for more trade between BRICS nations using their own currencies, as members look to deepen economic ties and reduce reliance on traditional financial systems.
The 18th BRICS Summit is being held at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi on September 12 and 13 under India's presidency.
This year's theme is "Building for Resilience, Innovation, Cooperation and Sustainability", with India's presidency promoting a people-focused approach under the banner of "Humanity First."
