03:16United Aircraft Corporation CEO Vadim Badeha said the advantage of having a full production cycle exclusively within Russia would allow them to pivot into localised production of aircraft in India too, and without a 'third party' between them, speaking on the sidelines of the INNOPROM industrial technology exhibition in New Delhi on Thursday.
"I would particularly like to emphasise that Russia is the only country in the world where aircraft are produced entirely within a single country, entirely by our domestic industry - both military and civilian. This allows us to discuss a localisation project with our partners here in India on a bilateral basis. There is no third party between us," the UAC head stressed.
Badeha also stressed that the 'history of producing military aircraft' in India went 'back several decades', adding that it provided a basis for the countries to "take the next step and open a new chapter".
"We have talked about establishing civilian aircraft production here. Today, a unique opportunity has emerged in many respects, both for us and for the Indian side. This is linked to the fact that a large-scale programme to develop regional air transport is being implemented here in India, with several dozen new airports being built. This is creating very large, substantial demand for new aircraft, primarily regional aircraft. We are offering the Indian side the Il-114 and [Sukhoi] Superjet-100," he continued.
INNOPROM.India runs from September 9 to 11 at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi, bringing together government representatives, manufacturers, technology companies, investors and industry organisations from both countries.
The exhibition is taking place ahead of the BRICS Summit, scheduled for September 12-13.
