Footage shows security personnel stationed around Bharat Mandapam, where the 18th BRICS Summit will be held on September 12 and 13. BRICS banners and the flags of participating countries line streets across the city.
The security operation stretches far beyond the summit venue, covering VVIP routes from the airport to hotels hosting foreign delegations, with surveillance on the ground and in the air.
Security has also been stepped up in New Delhi's diplomatic district of Chanakyapuri, with police pickets and patrol vehicles stationed outside hotels including ITC Maurya and the Taj Palace.
Authorities have identified 22 major traffic diversion points and more than 35 key roads where vehicles may be temporarily stopped or diverted during VVIP movements. Roads around central New Delhi, including routes towards Rashtrapati Bhavan, the official residence of India's president, are also subject to restrictions.
Russian President Vladimir Putin is expected to arrive on September 11, while Chinese President Xi Jinping is likely to arrive the following day. Both are expected to land at the Air Force Station in Palam before travelling to hotels in Chanakyapuri.
Putin is scheduled to hold bilateral talks with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi ahead of the summit.
"India and Russia already have a good relationship. Russia has always stood with India. Whenever India has faced trouble, Russia has always stood with India," said a resident.
According to Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov, the two leaders are expected to discuss trade and economic cooperation.
The meeting follows Modi and Putin's talks on the sidelines of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) summit in Bishkek on August 31, where they reviewed political and economic ties, as well as defence and energy cooperation.
The two-day summit begins on September 12 under the theme "Building for Resilience, Innovation, Cooperation and Sustainability", with India's chairship promoting a people-centric approach rooted in the principle of 'Humanity First'.
