Russian Security Council Secretary Sergei Shoigu and Indian Prime Minister National Security Advisor Ajit Kumar Doval held a meeting on the sidelines of the International Security Forum in the Moscow region on Thursday.
"We value our strategic partnership with India as a top priority, one that is not subject to geopolitical fluctuations. It is founded on a long-standing friendship and mutual respect for each other’s national interests. <...> The dynamic development of Russian-Indian relations is complemented by successful co-operation within frameworks such as BRICS, the SCO, and the G20," emphasised Shoigu.
He added that Moscow was committed to deepening its dialogue with New Delhi on bilateral, global, and security issues.
In turn, Doval expressed hope for expanded co-operation and noted the dynamic growth in bilateral trade.
"Now, we are very keenly looking forward to the next BRICS summit, and we are happy to note that President Putin has agreed to participate in that summit, and I do hope that his visit and his participation will add substantially to the success of the BRICS," he noted.
The International Security Forum takes place in the Moscow region on May 26-29, with more than 180 delegations from foreign states and international organisations. The programme includes bilateral and multilateral meetings, as well as visits to special exhibitions.
