We pay special attention to our multilateral work... particularly BRICS! - Shoigu during a meeting with Brazil’s pres adviser03:16
Description

Security Council Secretary Sergei Shoigu said Moscow was 'paying particular attention' to its work within multilateral frameworks - particularly within BRICS - during a meeting with Brazilian presidential adviser Celso Amorim at the International Security Forum in the Moscow region on Wednesday.

"We are paying particular attention to our work within multilateral frameworks, particularly within the BRICS framework. There are many pressing issues. Today we will discuss the current international situation, strengthening the coordination of our actions, and specific aspects of co-operation in the field of security," he said.

Referring to the conflict in the Middle East, Shoigu stressed that it "undoubtedly had an impact on the economic, energy and food sectors worldwide".

Meanwhile, Amorim noted that Brazil was "very concerned about instability and conflicts around the world, particularly the war against Iran", adding that "all difficulties and conflicts must be resolved through dialogue".

"This is an important issue that also affects us directly, not militarily, but through the price of petroleum products and fertilisers. Brazil is one of the world’s largest agricultural producers, and fertilisers obviously play a fundamental role," he continued.

The International Security Forum is taking place from May 26-29. The Russian side has invited more than 180 delegations from foreign states and organisations. The programme includes bilateral and multilateral meetings, as well as visits to special exhibitions.
