Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov was interrupted twice by a foreign journalist during a press conference in New Delhi on Friday, prompting security personnel to escort the reporter out of the hall.
Lavrov first asked the journalist to switch off his mobile phone, which appeared to be disrupting the event.
“It’s either you or your phone. Who’s going to speak?” Lavrov said.
After the warning was ignored, he instructed security to remove the journalist.
"Look, can you leave us? I'm not joking. Can you leave us, please?" Lavrov then addressed security: "Guys, get him out of here."
He then quipped: "Sir, excuse me, if you don't surrender your phone they will take out a gun, you know?"
Lavrov's visit to India will last until May 15. The minister will take part in two plenary sessions: the first is dedicated to the global and regional agenda, and the second to the 20th anniversary of BRICS and issues of sustainable development, innovation and the expansion of co-operation between the bloc’s member states.
