Description

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said BRICS, the Shanghai Co-operation Organisation and G20 all played a key role in finding 'global answers to global problems', during a meeting with his Indian counterpart Subrahmanyam Jaishankar in New Delhi on Wednesday.

"We co-operate in the United Nations, of course, the Shanghai Co-operation Organisation, G20, which is becoming more important at the time when we have to find global answers to global problems. The problems are created not by all of us, but to resolve them, we have to join our efforts, including in BRICS and in the Shanghai Co-operation Organisation," he said.

Lavrov also stressed that co-operation between India and Russia was "based on sustained structures, which certainly is helpful for long-term planning and for achieving results".

Lavrov will take part in a meeting of BRICS foreign ministers under India’s chairmanship on May 14-15. They are expected to review 20 years of co-operation within the organisation and discuss further collaboration in politics, security, economics, finance and humanitarian affairs.
