Art uniting people - BRICS-organised Global Dance Overture concert kicks off in Moscow04:20
Description

The 'Dance Overture of Peace', an international concert organised by BRICS, took over Moscow on Monday.

Footage shows performances by artists from Russia, China, and India, featuring musical and dance numbers.

Sierra Leone's Ambassador Mohamed Yongawo, emphasised the importance of such cultural exchanges in strengthening international relations.

"It actually unites people, because they can speak to each other. Cultural [dialogue] is more [valuable] than people speaking to each other. So art is a really good way to represent different nations, because you can see that there is also a kind of unity in art. Art unites people because it speaks for itself," the diplomat remarked.

Brazilian Ambassador to Russia Sergio Rodriguez dos Santos added that concerts show the strong co-operation between BRICS countries.

"Activities like we had today are extremely important for bringing together different cultures, different societies and helping mutual understanding and cultural enrichment of all countries involved," he said.

The event is supported by Russia's Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Ministry of Culture. It was held in Moscow for the first time in 2023 and brought together over 60 representatives from diplomatic missions.

The next event is scheduled for October 2025 in Beijing, followed by a performance in New Delhi in 2026, with subsequent events planned in other BRICS countries: Brazil, South Africa, and Ethiopia.
